We conducted a comparative experimental study on the hydrophilicity, ball milling toughness and desanding rate of brown corundum abrasives. This abrasive is widely used in the manufacture of coated abrasives and resin consolidation abrasives.
1. Production process:
This product uses iron oxide red and ceramic bond after stirring evenly, with a high-pressure spraying device, evenly coated on the surface of brown corundum, and the coating should be thin and uniform, the coating is too thick and easy to fall off. The specific production process is as follows:
Raw materials: particle size, sand→ washed → iron oxide red metering→ ceramic bond measurement→ mixing and stirring→ brown corundum mixture → low-temperature curing→ high-temperature firing → screening → packaging
2. Test content:
2.1 Comparative test of hydrophilicity
According to the provisions of JB/T7984.4-2001 common abrasive hydrophilicity determination method, the hydrophilicity of different abrasives with different particle sizes was determined according to the method specified in the standard on the JS1-4 hydrophilic tester.
2.2 Comparative test of ball milling toughness
According to JISR6001-1998, GB/T ordinary abrasive ball milling toughness determination method (pending), the ball grinding toughness of different grain sizes and different abrasives was determined.
2.3 Comparative test of desanding rate
This test is tested by the customer, so the specific test method is not informed.
3. Test results

Conclusion: Abrasives through the deep processing of abrasives, so that abrasives can play their role in the application of abrasives more effectively, so that China’s coated abrasives product grade has been improved, comparable to similar foreign products.
In short, no matter how good the product should be used in the right place, improving the targeted application of abrasives is a major problem in China’s coating abrasives industry, what kind of products grind what kind of workpiece, must be selectively used, so as to better play the role of abrasives in the application of abrasives.
