Thermal sprayed metal coatings such as white corundum and green silicon carbide micropowder are researched and applied earlier wear-resistant coatings. Commonly used are metal (Mo, Ni), carbon steel and low alloy steel, stainless steel and Ni-Cr alloy series coating.
Generally, flame spraying, arc spraying, plasma spraying, HVOF and gas deflagration spraying processes are used. The bonding strength between the coating and the substrate is high, and the wear resistance and corrosion resistance are good. It can be used to repair worn parts and mechanically process out-of-tolerance parts.
In recent years, intermetallic compound coatings and amorphous coatings have also been increasingly used. Using thermal spraying technology, a layer of corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant intermetallic compound coating is sprayed on the structural material, which avoids the disadvantage of being difficult to form. It can also give full play to its excellent performance and accelerate the pace of industrial application of intermetallic compounds.
Common intermetallic compound coatings include Ni-AL, Ti-AL and FE-AL alloy coatings. At present, the techniques for preparing intermetallic compound coatings include methods such as plasma spraying, HVOF, and arc spraying.
